Legal Compliance
The 2026 B2B mandate is coming. Using Acurion's Peppol Access Point means you are compliant from day one, without shopping for a separate e-invoicing provider.
Send and receive electronic invoices across the European Peppol network. No separate e-invoicing provider needed. No additional subscription. Just compliant e-invoicing, built in.
The Basics
Peppol (Pan-European Public Procurement Online) is a European network for exchanging electronic business documents, primarily invoices. Instead of sending PDF invoices by email, businesses send structured electronic documents (UBL 2.1 XML) through the Peppol network.
The receiver's software can process these documents automatically, without any manual data entry. In Belgium, Peppol e-invoicing is already mandatory for invoices sent to government entities (B2G). Starting in 2026, it becomes mandatory for business-to-business (B2B) transactions as well.
The Mandate
Electronic invoicing mandates are rolling out in phases. Here is where Belgium stands today.
Businesses invoicing Belgian federal, regional, or local government entities must already send invoices via Peppol. This is active and enforced.
All Belgian VAT-registered businesses must be able to send and receive structured electronic invoices for B2B transactions. The exact start date and phase-in details are being finalised by the FPS Finance.
Peppol adoption is expanding across the EU. France, Germany, Italy, and others are implementing or planning similar mandates. Being Peppol-ready today prepares you for tomorrow.
